What is Scouting U?

Scouting University is a one-day leader training program designed for YOU, the volunteers and leaders in Scouting.  The day provides ideas and resources in areas to benefit your Pack, Troop, Team or Crew.  Scouting U is offered once a year to assist ALL Scout volunteers in their Scouting positions.

This year we have been revising and changing the courses.  We'll also offer the most up to date information and program updates for the Cub Scout program and more.  It’s a whole New Century of Scouting.  It’s time for new Ideas, new thoughts, and new courses.

All courses are open to all Scouters for you to choose from.  Come, learn, have fun, and meet other Scouters.  There will be a Midway of interesting booths to view when you are not in classes and pick up literature on Parks, activities, local Scouting opportunities, and interesting outings; and the Scout Shop will be there.

The registration fee will include lunch, your courses, the Midway, free parking (preferred parking for car pools) and GREAT camaraderie.

Who attends the Scouting University?

All Adult Volunteers. This includes Cub Scout Leaders and Parents, Boy Scout Leaders, Venturing Leaders, Commissioners, District and Council Level Volunteers, all other Scout Volunteers as well as Scouting Professionals.  General courses are offered as well as courses for specific units and positions.  You do not have to be a registered Leader to participate. (Note special training has been set up for Den Chiefs, Boy Scouts and Venture youth leadership.)

What will I do at Scouting University?

You will take as many classes as you like, provided they fit into your schedule! Also, a MIDWAY will be offered with many great ideas presented by outside sponsors.  Each of these experiences will help prepare you to provide a quality program for our youth.

     How do I pick courses?

You'll be able to schedule your own day by using the Course Schedule.  Check out the list of courses. There are Courses in Position Specific Training, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing Activities, Scout Skills and Overall Scout Enrichment. Pick courses that you are interested in, pick courses that will help your unit. Be careful, some courses are more than one session long. Then register online.

Parking - Car-Pool

Parking is free but it is strongly encouraged that you car-pool to Scouting University. There is limited parking.

What is the schedule?

This will be an all-day event on Saturday, December 1, 2018.  The doors open for registration at 7:45am. A total of 6 sessions will run from 8:30- 4:00pm.  See the course catalog for additional details.

Do I have to attend all of the sessions?

All of the sessions are included in your registration, but no, you do not have to attend all of the sessions.  Pick and choose the classes and times that best meet your schedule if you need to leave early or arrive late.  Please do keep in mind that some classes require you to be there for multiple sessions to complete the certified training.

Is lunch included?

Yes.  A delicious catered lunch is included in your registration.  We will also use the time for a short program to highlight some volunteers and feature a few guest speakers.

COUNCIL REFUND POLICY: Individuals or groups that cancel a program reservation 30 days prior to the date of the event, will receive a refund of fees paid, less 15% administrative charge. No refunds will be made after the 30-day cancellation deadline.
