Thank you for registering for the 2017 National Jamboree to be held on July 19-28, 2017 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV.  This is the second DBC contingent update email to those registered as participants or staff members.

Recruiting

There are 3-5 remaining spots for the Jamboree.  Please have any of your friends who still might be interested in attending give us a call at 513-577-7686 or sign up on the wait list immediately by clicking the orange register button on the jamboree web pageExternal Link.  Wait list registrations will be selected on a first come first serve basis.  .

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Nicki Powell at 513-560-2000.

Jamboree Medical Forms

Complete details of the Medical form process are on the Medical Forms page of our websiteExternal Link.

Please upload an electronic copy to the National Jamboree, and submit a paper copy to your Local Jamboree Unit.  The paper copy must be submitted at or before the April 1st Contingent Shakedown Campout at Camp Friedlander.  We will have IT support present at check-in for the April 1st Shakedown and can scan forms and help there.

A few tips to make the process go smoother:

1.       Use the Jamboree version of the forms – they are almost the same as the regular forms, but has a few special fields:  CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SUMMIT-SPECIFIC BSA FORM

2.  Search your email for two emails from 2017jamboree@scouting.org.  The first will have you generate a password.  The second will assign your username.  It will be a cryptic username that is system generated to insure privacy.

3.  You will need to scan your insurance card IN A SEPARATE PDF Document then scan your four-page part A, B and C medical forms in a SEPARATE PDF Document.

4.  You will upload the scanned documents AND enter much of the data on the screen as part of the process.

Program Updates

Click on this picture for an extensive list of program offerings and a jamboree schedule.

Visiting the Jamboree –the link above has the high-level schedule for the jamboree including days open to visitors, but it’s not practical to plan the day of your visit just yet.  We will have some days where our units are offsite or participating in a group activity that will make the scouts not available to meet with visitors.  Your unit leader will communicate those days as soon as we have them, and then you can plan when to visit!

Payments

Thank you to those that are paid in full.  Full payment was due by February 15th.  If you have an outstanding balance, please click hereExternal Link for detailed instructions on how make your final payment.

Online Store

We are trying to keep things as simple as possible, however there will be two separate online stores, one from our Council and one from National.

1.       You will be able to access the National Jamboree Dan Beard Council Contingent Store www.danbeard.org/Jamboree/JamboGearExternal Link or by clicking Store at www.danbeard.org/jamboreeExternal Link once it goes live in early March.  The only required store interaction is for those registered with the Contingent to select the sizes of the t-shirts that are included with your package.  To select the sizes of your t-shirts, select the very first item in the National Jamboree online store and add it to your cart.  Remember, your registration includes:
- 4 Jamboree Contingent t-shirts (select size in the store)

In addition, you will receive the following items that require no action required to order – each registered contingent member will receive them:
- 1 Jamboree Day Pack
- 1 Jamboree Duffle Bag
- 1 Jamboree Contingent Water Bottle
- 2 Jamboree Unit Specific Shoulder Patches

You will also be able to order additional t-shirts and patches and council items at a discount.
This is the link where you can order patch sets for trading.  The contingent patch will have a theme of NJ – The Scout Gathering, It’s Magic, and the OA pocket patch set will feature a Dragon as shown below.

2.       Optional:  You will get multiple Jamboree catalogs and emails from National when the jamboree online store goes live.  Remember, as a part of your Dan Beard Council registration each participant will receive a Duffle bag and Daypack, so no need to buy one.   There is no obligation to purchase any items.

Uniform Sale

The jamboree committee has worked with the scout shop to once again provide discounted uniform pricing for those attending the jamboree.  An order form is attached that includes the sale items and pricing.  The discount amount will very slightly by item, and will be up to 20% off regular pricing. All order forms will be submitted back to Michael Menard at the Scout Shop. Orders forms will be due by April 15th so that we can place one large order. Parents will be able to pick up their order at the May 7th Contingent meeting or at the Scout Shop anytime thereafter.

Upcoming Schedule

At this point, you should have heard from your jamboree unit leader regarding when and where your troop or crew will meet.  The jamboree contingent has 2 remaining common meeting times before the jamboree as explained in the Contingent Guide.  They are

  1. April 1-2 Jamboree Contingent Overnight at Camp Friedlander Saturday/Sunday.
Arrive at 12:30pm Saturday (please eat lunch before arrival), pickup is 11AM Sunday.
